Next review....I hope you enjoy (careful might contain spoilers)

The "Slammed by Colleen Hoover" book review

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.
Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.
Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

................................................................................................................

I don't know why but every time I  finished a Cassandra Clare series I have always started to read a book by Colleen Hoover. Colleen Hoover doesn't write cutesie-romance books without meaning and she actually also breaks your heart. But her books are like a soothing medicine to me. After clockwork angel I was devastated and I went on for days without reading, because I was just feeling numb inside. But her book kind of helped me to get back on track. So thank you! This book is actually really sad. Layken, the main character just lost her dad and is forced to move due to financial problems. Right after the move she attracts the attention of her neighbour Will. They both have an instant connection. They start falling for each other. Will shows her slam poetry and they both get along perfectly. On her first day of school Layken gets hit by shocking news: Will is a teacher at her school and not just any teacher, he's her teacher. You slowly learn more about Will's past. He had to start working at a really young age, because he has a younger brother to take care of due to the sudden death of both of his parents.
Layken and Will try to stay away from each other, but it's not possible. Layken also needs his support because her mother has been keeping from her that she has been diagnosed with cancer. And that she will die. Layken is devastated. After loosing her father she is going to lose her mother too and added to that her brother , because her mother doesn't trust her with raising him.
Will supports her and after a while they no longer ignore their feelings for each other. They embrace them. After a long talk with her mom she promises Layken that she can "keep" her brother. The epilogue of this story is showing an event in the future: Layken's mom has died and Layken and Will are celebrating their first Christmas together and Layken is celebrating her first Christmas without parents. They both share the responsibility of raising two children and due to the help and love of Will, Layken slowly starts to process her loss.

I seriously love the books of Colleen Hoover. First of all like I have mentioned it there's never just a basic romance story. Her stories are difficult and twisted, but I wouldn't want it any other way. Second of all they have some kind of creative theme. In Maybe Someday there were these song lyrics that Colleen actually wrote herself. In this book there were two things that were like that. The first one were short parts of songs of "The Avett brothers" at the beginning of every chapter. You can check them out on Youtube , they are amazing!  The second part was the slam poetry. I have always been amazed by slam poetry and I love to watch people slam and it just completely mindblown me how Colleen has managed to write such amazing and heart-breaking slam poetry. Due to the creative magic that Colleen always manages to connect with the story line there's this story that touches your heart in a strange way. And I just love that feeling. I can't wait to read the second book and I definitely recommend you to read a book written by her if you haven't already done that!
