Legend

Next reviews....I hope you enjoy ;)

The "Legend by Marie Lu" book review

What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.
From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths—until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

I finally started to read one of Marie Lu's books. For months I kept telling myself I should start reading them...and I did. Well one of them. And I really liked it! At first I was pretty confused, because there's not really an introduction of the situation but as you continue reading the story you start to figure out everything. Due to the book being a dystopian young adult fiction, readers of the Hunger Games, Divergent or perhaps even the 100 would love to read this book. It explores social and political structures that might even become reality. There's the poor part of town and of course the wealthy part of town.
June lives in the wealthier part of town, she is a prodigy because she has passed the test every child has to take as a ten-year old with a total score of 1500 points.Which makes her the only one who has ever passed the test with such a high test score. She is being raised by her brother due to the sudden death of her parents.
Day is a criminal that should have been killed due to his low test results. Because that's what happens to those who score any lower than 1000. Yet he has survived. He is the most wanted criminal in his country. Yet he only steals stuff to keep his family and himself alive. He has never killed anyone. But on one particular day he breaks into the hospital to steal medicine for his little brother who has been infected with a virus and during his escape he kills Metias, June's brother. June wants the murderer of her broher to suffer and she thinks it's her duty to seek revenge. When her mission is accomplished  she finds out that her brother was killed by someone else. She also discovers that the death of ther parents wasn't an accident and she realizes that the Republic has been lying all along. She and Day have to find a way to escape......will they make it....????

Dammm...dammm ....dammmm I really loved the book , it was full of action, love , secrets, surprises...etc. I like the constant change of point of views. I don't like it when a book is only told in one perspective, that's just plain boring. But this was refreshing. I didn't like June at first because of her opinion of things but I learned to like her because she has developed soo much as the story continued. I also like the fact that both, June and Day  are 15. Most characters of young adult fiction books are from 16 to 20 years old. This was something different. I'm looking forward to reading the next books in this series soon !
